As the holiday season approaches, The Cayman Food Bank in partnership with SteppingStones is calling on the local community to lend a helping hand in the spirit of giving.

The Cayman Food Bank, a non-profit dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing emergency food supplies to those in need, invites everyone to support its mission this holiday season.

Everyone has an opportunity to make a difference through various initiatives. These opportunities include donations of non-perishable food items, which can be dropped off at the food bank warehouse, or at the Camana Bay Visitor Centre, now through Christmas Eve, and by participating in the annual Santa Run on 7 Dec.

Who they are

The Cayman Food Bank serves as a critical resource for individuals and families struggling with food insecurity across the Cayman Islands.

Operating on the front lines, the organisation works to collect and distribute food donations, ensuring that these essential resources reach those most vulnerable.

With the generous support of volunteers, local businesses, and donors, The Cayman Food Bank is able to provide not only emergency relief but also maintain ongoing support for those facing financial hardship.

How you can help this holiday season

There are several impactful ways for the community to join in and support The Cayman Food Bank’s mission:

  1. Donate canned and dry goods: As the hurricane season comes to a close, consider donating non-perishable food items you may have stocked up on. Canned goods, dried beans, rice, pasta, and other shelf-stable foods such as granola bars and snack packs are invaluable in helping families who rely on the food bank. Bottled water would also greatly benefit these families.
  2. Christmas food and funds donations: Spread holiday cheer by donating festive foods and ingredients that can help make a special Christmas meal.
Or, donate funds which will allow The Cayman Food Bank to purchase some of these special treats for its clients. Traditional holiday foods, non-perishable treats, and other pantry items are especially appreciated as they allow families to celebrate the season with joy and dignity.
  3. Participate in the annual Santa Run on 7 Dec: A holiday favourite, The Cayman Food Bank’s annual Santa Run brings the community together for a festive 5K walk/run, where you may even see participants dress up as Santa to raise funds and awareness for hunger relief.

Registration fees go directly toward supporting the food bank, and all are welcome to join. Bring your friends, family and coworkers for a fun-filled morning supporting a worthy cause. To sign up, visit the Camana Bay Visitor Centre or register online at Event Pro today.
