Fire at Bodden Town Civic Centre under investigation

Fire Services responded to a fire at the Bodden Town Civic Centre Saturday night.

An investigation has been launched into a fire that broke out at the Bodden Town Civic Centre, prompting the removal of 16 Cubans being housed there.

In a brief statement on Saturday night, the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service confirmed that a fire was reported at approximately 8:30pm at the Bodden Town Civic Centre.

The Cayman Islands Fire Service was on the scene and brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported at the time of Saturday’s statement.

The CBC said alternative arrangements are being made for the 16 people who were being housed at the Civic Centre.

This is second fire at the centre in four months.

In September, the Fire Services were called to the centre after a “small electrical fire” was reported.

“The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) attended the scene and the issue was resolved with no injuries reported,” a CBC statement said at the time.
