The Cayman Islands’ pristine beaches are a major draw for tourism and keeping the environment healthy is therefore paramount.
To that end, in support of the charity Project Aware’s Debris Month of Action, Don Foster’s Dive Cayman is organising a beach clean-up along the Red Bay Dock/South Sound beach area and shoreline on Sunday, 30 September.
“It commences at 8.30am before it gets too hot and finishing when we all get too hot,” said Cally Clark, office manager.
Volunteers are welcome to come and lend a hand to help clean up the trash before it gets washed back into the sea.
Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen
Don Foster’s Dive Cayman will be providing garbage bags, gloves and drinking water. Volunteers will also receive a small thank-you gift from the dive shop in appreciation of all their hard work in making our beaches beautiful and protecting our marine environment from trash.
The dive store reminded volunteers to wear sunscreen and a hat, as there is not a much shade available along the beach and shoreline.
Contact the dive shop on South Church Street at 949-5679 prior to Sunday, 30 September to register or sign up for the event on Project Aware’s website.
