Police charge driver in fatal accident

Police on Sunday charged a 30-year-old male driver with causing death by careless driving in connection with a collision in which Beverley Ramsay was killed in October last year.

Taxi driver Ms Ramsay, 59, was killed in the 16 October morning smash on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway.

According to a statement issued by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, the man was formally charged Sunday following receipt of a ruling from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The man has been released on bail and was due to appear in court Monday, 18 March. Police have not released the name of the man who has been charged.

Ms Ramsay, mother of police officer Angelique Howell, had been driving a Hyundai van when the collision with the Nissan box truck the arrested man was driving occurred around 6am on 16 October.
