Former US Army sergeant and Cayman Islands police officer Mr Shane Bothwell is the Legislative Assembly’s new Sergeant-at-Arms.

The 33-year-old Caymanian father of three girls has extensive military training gained during 11-plus years in the US Army, serving as an infantryman and then sergeant in charge of special forces, as well as event and personal security detail.
On returning home in 2004,, Mr Bothwell joined the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and served there until his appointment as Sergeant-at-Arms.
‘I am delighted to have this opportunity to serve in Cayman’s Legislature and look forward to the ceremonial as well as all the other duties of the post,’ Mr Bothwell said.
Clerk of the Legislative Assembly Ms Wendy Lauer said, ‘The professional knowledge and expertise that Mr Bothwell brings with him will enhance and strengthen the office of Sergeant-at-Arms and I am pleased to welcome him to this position.’
