The T.E. McField Centre was constructed by The Rotary Central Club of Grand Cayman in the late 1990s and gifted to the government to be used for community service purposes, according to a release from the centre’s manager.
The centre has many roles including children’s summer camps, after school programmes, and senior citizen events. The facility also serves as one of the food preparation kitchens for the Rotary sponsored meals on wheels.
Due to many dedicated volunteers this programme provides hot and nutritious meals delivered to the doors of individuals who cannot prepare for themselves.
The release added that Rotary Central continues to support the T.E. McField centre. The club recently purchased new doors, maintained the A/C systems, repaired the septic system, and performed a yard cleanup.
In thanking Rotary Central, Ms Beaulah McField said the cleanup was greatly appreciated.
‘The 37 children who use the after-school facilities have not been able to use the backyard playing area due to the state of the septic tank which was damaged and the amount of rubbish that had gathered around the play area.
Ken Guiste Rotary Central Community Service Director said: ‘Rotary Central is committed to supporting Housing, Environmental and Community service initiatives and would like to thank Rotarian Greg Vasic for driving this opportunity to help such a needy cause.’
