An opportunity for a local resident to broaden educational and cultural horizons by studying in India is being offered by the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education and the Kingston, Jamaica-based High Commission of India.
The scholarship is offered under the Indian government’s Technical & Economic Cooperation programme in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, government of India, according to a Government Information Services press release.
The scholarship will cover airfare, tuition fees, accommodation, medical and health care, and a living allowance for study during the 2005/2006 school year.
More than 23 English-language colleges and institutes across India offer courses under the ITEC programme, including the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Institute of Government Accounts Finance, Indian Institute of Mass Communication and the Technical Teacher’s Training Institute.
Courses span a range of technical, vocational and professional subjects, and are designed to appeal to executives, managers, journalists, administrators, designers, engineers and teachers.
Examples of the diversity of course content and length range from the five-week Audit of Public Sector Enterprises offered by the Administrative Staff College of India in Hyderabad, to the 52-week Flour Milling Technology Certificate Course presented by the Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore.
