CBC officer charged with firearm, drug offences

A Customs and Border Control officer is expected to appear in court Monday charged with firearms and drug offences after police found two handguns, ammunition and ganja at a home in Bodden Town during a search.

He has been placed on required leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the RCIPS said in a statement Friday.

Police said the 45-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, 24 Aug., when officers conducted a proactive operation at the residence on Kingfisher Street.

A woman, aged 45, was also arrested in the operation.

The man has been charged with two counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, two counts of possession of an unlicensed ammunition, and possession of ganja.

The woman has not been charged, and has been granted bail as investigations continue, police said.
