It was an exciting weekend for the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation as they played host to two major back-to-back events.
At the Equestrian Center off the Linford Pierson Highway, the action kicked off with the Fédération Équestre Internationale Dressage World Challenge on Saturday, 6 June, and continued with National Dressage Show #8 the following day.
In the FEI Dressage World Challenge, Cayman’s riders delivered internationally competitive scores.
Jessica McTaggart led the field with a score of 76.736% riding Could Be Magic, while Sierra Martin also delivered a strong performance aboard Loris7, scoring 71.850%.
They were joined in the high-scoring ranks by Caleigh Corbin, who scored 68.975% on Lovely Pictura and Matilda Tammemagi, who earned a 68.500% riding Bandolero.
The weekend also brought a major milestone for Caleigh Corbin. Thanks to her performance with Lovely Pictura, Corbin officially qualified for the Concours de Dressage International borrowed horse competition, which will take place in Mexico later this year.
The competitive momentum carried into Sunday’s National Dressage Show #8 where riders across all skill levels demonstrated excellent horsemanship.
“These exceptional scores reflect the dedication and hard work of Cayman’s riders and their horses, as well as the strength of the local training programs,” said the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation.
Beyond the riding action in the arena, the event was further enhanced by a musical demonstration performed by students of the Equestrian Center and also featured a rendition of the national anthem by Delaney McTaggart.
