All government primary schools reopen on Monday, Aug. 27, at 8:30 a.m.
The secondary modern high school opened 50 years ago this year on The Brac and boldly boasts of students excelling in CXC, IGCSE and in other extracurricular activities.
A Layman E. Scott Sr. High School student is the winner a new HP laptop from Cayman Finance CEO Jude Scott. Matthew Giscombe was awarded the HP laptop for scoring 100 percent in a quiz on the financial services industry during a Career Fair held in March.
For the first time in music teacher Kasandra Scott-Salazar’s seven-year career, her students at Cayman Brac’s high school scored a first place position in the annual Amin Mohammed Memorial Steel Band Competition.
The month of May is being used as an occasion to encourage people to rededicate their lives to the care of children.
Young chefs had the opportunity to show off their cooking skills recently at the Cayman Brac National Youth District Cook-Off. Five teams of young chefs and a coach vied for the top spot at the contest on Oct. 29 at Layman E. Scott Sr. High School. The winning team secured a spot to compete against teams from several other districts at the National Youth Cook-off on March 1, 2017.
The second year of the Cayman Finance Student Education and Work Experience Programme has concluded after nine weeks of workshops and mentor sessions and a four-week work placement component.
The Layman E. Scott Sr. High School graduation ceremony drew a large crowd to celebrate the accomplishments of the 23 members of the school’s graduating class.
