Cars will be exported

A sea of derelict vehicles damaged during Hurricane Ivan awaits its fate in a parking ground off Sparky Drive.

Police are keeping a keen eye on the massive amount of vehicles.

‘The vehicles will not be sold on island for parts or any other use,’ said MC Operations Manager Thomas Nienaber.

‘The vehicles, along with other scrap metal, such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, zinc, etc, will be loaded on to barges and towed to a specific location which is still being formulated.

‘For now, the police Department are assisting in tagging the vehicles for removal, which should be on their way in a couple of weeks.’

This said Mr. Neinaber is an ongoing effort to clean up the island.
