Private life not relevant

I refer to several articles that were recently published in the Cayman Net News regarding the new Commissioner of Police.

In order for the Commissioner of Police to get on with the important duty of fighting crime in Cayman, it is important that the Cayman Net News stops publishing further articles involving his private life.

I acknowledge freedom of expression but it carries responsibilities which I know that editor is aware of and will abide by. The issues raised in the articles involved matters that had previously been dealt with in the United Kingdom a decade ago.

It is acknowledged however, that the Cayman police force will require future assistance from the Cayman community and news media, as they too play important roles in reducing crime.

Former Acting Attorney General
