A group of seven Cuban males in a 16-foot wooden boat entered waters off East End Wednesday, the government announced in a press release.
The Cubans were processed by the Immigration Department on Grand Cayman, were being housed at a government facility.
These men were part of the 18 Cubans who were reported last Friday to have left Cayman Brac en route to Honduras. However, the entire group landed Tuesday in Little Cayman after 11 of them decided not to continue the journey.
The group then splintered, with the seven men attempting to continue their travels to Honduras. The 11 others are being housed in Cayman Brac until arrangements are made to send them to Grand Cayman for further processing.
The vessel in which the seven men were travelling was damaged as they tried to come over the East End reef. All 18 of the Cubans appear to be in good health.
There are now 35 Cubans being held in Grand Cayman, and 11 in Cayman Brac.
