Complaints of dangerous driving in Bodden Town have led to the police setting up a morning road closure.
Drivers are being warned that the Bodden Town bypass will be closed between 6.30am and 8am, Monday to Friday at the junction of Bodden Town Road and Belford Drive.
The step has been taken, according to an RCIP press release, to help the free flow of traffic exiting the other side of the bypass near to the Bodden Town Primary School and the junction of Shamrock Road, near to the Cable and Wireless exchange.
‘The move follows a number of complaints from the public reporting several incidents of motorists dangerously exiting the minor road onto the major road into the path of oncoming traffic,’ said the release.
The RCIP said that parents and teachers of children attending the primary school had also reported incidents of cars speeding past the school when the youngsters are making their way from cars to the building.
Police said the closure had already been put into effect and that ‘positive feedback’ had been received from a number of road users.
‘Police will continually monitor the situation, and the effect of the road closure is having will be reviewed periodically,’ the release added.
