Lecturer dies

Police confirmed Thursday that University College lecturer Dr. Mary-Beth Throneberry died in hospital in Miami on Tuesday.

Last Saturday, at around 12.45pm, medics and police went to Shamrock Road, Red Bay where Mrs Throneberry said she had fallen from her Segway, electric powered mobility aid and hit her head.

She was taken to George Town Hospital suffering from a laceration to the head.

But, say the RCIP, her condition deteriorated and she was airlifted to Miami where she later died.

Police say they are waiting for a post mortem examination to be carried out in Miami.

Dr. Throneberry was a 53-year-old American who lived in George Town.
