CIFA’s President, Mr. Jeffrey Webb, said ‘Once again, we want to express our gratitude to DIGICEL for a fantastic sponsorship. There is a lot of buzz about the semi-finals, since some of the favorites were knocked out of the competition. This will be an exciting Cup until the end.’
On the other hand, Gemma McLaughlin, Senior Marketing Executive from Digicel, said ‘as the sponsors, we are very excited about the upcoming Semi-Finals, with four strong teams to go head to head for the Cup. We look forward to the games and we want to encourage the fans to come and support their teams. There will be great giveaways and prizes both for the Semi-Finals and Finals.
Representatives from the four remaining teams were in high spirits once the results of the draw were announced. Alfredo Whittaker with Tigers FC expressed that ‘regardless of the team we got paired against, we have a game to play. If we win in the semi-finals, then we will compete in the finals against one of the big teams (George Town SC or Scholars International). Mario Watler with Scholars International said that ‘this is a repetition of last year’s Digicel Cup final, so we hope to be successful this time around’. Floyd Webb with George Town SC declared that ‘it will be an interesting and hardworking game for us. Fans can be assured that some good football will be played’. Fred Ebanks from FC International expressed his delight at the draw and added that ‘we got knocked out last season by George Town SC. This time we look forward to progress and make it to the finals, although it will take a lot of hard work’.
