Russell said: ‘The Cayman Islands may be a small island but it integrating e-learning into the training of their coaches they are world leaders in football education.
‘I was most impressed by the organization and administration by CIFA: having worked for the English FA and UEFA I can honestly say the attention to detail displayed by CIFA is comparable with these organizations.’
Russell also pointed out that the level of football participation in clubs and schools in the Cayman Islands is amongst the highest per capita rates in the world. He added that Norway has probably the highest proportion of its population
Russell who visited the island recently to access the coaches who participated in the online Coaches Courses introduced by CIFA last year stayed on the island for four days visiting institutions and having question and answer workshops at several venues with the main focus on Education in Sports.
Russell who worked closely with CIFA over the past year also presented certificates to six successful Coaches in FA ‘C’ License (3) and ‘B’ License Course (3).
Other coaches who have participated in the first on-line FA Coaches Course are still undergoing training under the expertise of Russell.
The first was held at the Ed Bush Stadium and the others were held at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex with the culmination at the Reliable Industries Building two weeks ago.
It was made possible by CIFA’s partnership with the English Football Association. The institution of this course was an important step forward for Cayman football with the main objective set to improve and standardize the quality of the Cayman Islands Football coaches and the coaches in the Caribbean region as well.
