No foul play suspected
The body of a local fisherman washed ashore in West Bay Friday after the man had gone missing the day before.
Sisby Levert Barnett, known as ‘Junior,’ was found around 12.30pm along the iron shore beach at the end of King Road in the Boatswain’s Bay area.
Those who located the body said that Mr. Barnett was nude when he was found, but police officials stated there was no reason to suspect any foul play in the disappearance. Police said a post mortem would be carried out as per standard protocol.
Mr. Barnett lived on Duxies Lane just a few blocks away from where he was found.
According to police, Mr. Barnett was last seen around 7am Thursday when he left home to go fishing. He was expected to come home that evening but never did. His disappearance was reported around 9pm Thursday by a family member.
Friday morning, search crews located a green aluminium boat near shore in the Barkers area, along with a fuel tank and a cooler that had washed up on the shoreline. Mr. Barnett’s body was found a few hours after those items were located.
