Roma landed their first win in the Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League by beating Future SC 1-0 at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay last Sunday evening while defending champions drew 1-1 with Sunset.
Meanwhile, at the TE McField Sports Centre Scholars International had their usual goal feast whipping George Town 4-1 and Bodden Town grabbed their first win, over Tigers edging them 3-2.
Scholars squeezed one past Clay Coleman in the 25th minute courtesy of Fabian Malcolm.
In the 39th minute Malcolm was on target again. Just one minute later George Town’s defender Michael Thorton netted an own goal.
George Town missing defender Donald ‘Naddy’ Solomon were not too impressive. David Harding was marked out of the game completely getting no room to turn as hard as he tried. The team however got some life when Alejandro Ruiz substituted Thornton.
In the 70th minute Malcolm completed his hat-trick taking the score to 4-0.
However, Ruiz’s entry on the field of play did make quite a difference as he was instrumental in helping George Town to net a consolation goal in the 90th minute through Tex Whitelock.
In the early game Bodden Town showed that they had found back their form shown last season coming from behind to beat second placed Tigers 3-2.
It was Tigers who went ahead in the 31st minute when Lende Carter scored. Three minutes later Gerome Graham equalized for Bodden Town.
Bodden Town were in high spirits and in the 42nd minute they had Tigers trailing 2-1.
In the 54th minute Jose Bush netted another equalizer for Tigers. The play was from one area to the other but Bodden Town could not be contained as they made several attempts at goal.
In the 85th minute Bodden Town sealed the issue with a goal from Kareem James much to the relief of the newcomers who have been trying hard to get a win for the past four games.
Scholars International are still on top with 12 points from four games, Tigers remain in second position on seven, and Elite, Sunset and George Town are on five, Bodden Town on four and Future and Roma on three.
Games will continue on Sunday.
