Minister Anglin in car accident

Education Minister Rolston Anglin was involved in a minor car accident early Thursday morning in West Bay.

The Caymanian Compass spoke with Mr. Anglin later on Thursday morning. He said he was resting at home and was not able to attend a seminar for new teachers being held at that time.

According to Mr. Anglin, he was driving home along Willie Farrington Drive in West Bay around 1am and apparently nodded off behind the wheel.

The vehicle he was in drove off the road. No other vehicles were involved and no one was hurt.

The minister said he was not injured, merely shaken up by the event.

“I’m just working too many long hours,” he said. “I need to take better care of myself.”

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service did receive a report of a car accident on Willie Farrington Drive Thursday around 1.25am. Police reported that the vehicle involved had left the road and struck a rock.

According to police, the male driver was taken to hospital with slight hand injuries and later released.
