Refs get Digicel props

Assistant FIFA referees Swason Owen
and Dwayne Ebanks are really coming on in their careers as match officials,
after completing their appointment with Group D of the Caribbean Football Union
Digicel Caribbean Cup Qualifying rounds in Suriname.

Owen, who was placed on the FIFA
list last January, was officiating for the first time at this level while
Ebanks has been at that level before having received his appointment over two
years ago.

Both assistant refs are members of
the Cayman Islands Referees Association, an affiliate of the Cayman Islands
Football Association. They form the core of local referees on the Cayman
Islands and currently officiate in Premier League games.

A proud CIFA president Jeffrey Webb
said: “On behalf of the Cayman Islands Football Association, I am very pleased
with the efforts of these referees who have displayed tremendous efforts both
physically and mentally to reach to this level in their career. I have full
confidence in them relating to the sacrifices that they will continue to make
so as to represent the Cayman Islands at this level internationally. I am
appealing to the young people in the football community to emulate these
referees and increase the representation of the island at the FIFA level.”

Presently there are two referees
and two assistant referees on the FIFA list from the Cayman Islands. The refs
are Nolan Foster and Kenville Holder.
