Cayman’s national netball league
starts up shortly and the annual league parade will launch it in colourful
fashion.
The Cayman Islands Netball
Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports, will be
having its annual opening ceremony and uniform parade for the 2010-2011 netball
season this weekend. Schools, teams and clubs will participate on Saturday 20
November at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex netball courts at 4pm.
Also on tap for this year will be
an exhibition game between the top two teams from the netball association’s
2010 Mixed League. The game will follow shortly after all other items on the
annual event programme. The mixed league finished up earlier this month and
featured five teams in the Frank Hall Homes Blazers, Roma netball club, All
Stars netball club, team Multi-Built and Rising Stars Money Gram.
The netball association has hosted
the parade annually for more than 11 years and looks forward to continued
public support. Netball association press officer Orvin Palacio states that the
event showcases women in Cayman and the beauty of netball.
“We in the association, along with
the Ministry of Sports, host the event annually and we would like as many
people as possible to support this event,” Palacio said. “Netball is a sport
that really develops team work and tactical development. Many of our
outstanding women in this country give credit to netball for their excellent
problem-solving skills and social development.”
