Festival of Trees sets bright holiday tone

The Central Caribbean Marine
Institute kicked off its annual Festival of Trees with speeches from Premier
McKeeva Bush and underwater photographer Cathy Church at a reception Monday
night.

The institute, which has a research
centre on Little Cayman, raises money each year through a Christmas dinner and
auction of 12 trees decorated by local companies.

Up for auction this year is also a
photograph of Little Cayman’s Bloody Bay Wall by Jim Hellemn whose photographs
of famed diving spot has appeared in National Geographic magazine and who shot
the image of Bloody Bay Wall that adorns the Observation Tower at Caymana Bay.

The dozen Christmas trees can be
viewed by the public at Market Street in Camana Bay.

For tickets to the dinner and
auction, to be held at 89 Nexus Way in Camana Bay on Saturday, 27 November, in
Camana Bay, contact [email protected].
