There was plenty of great football action last weekend as Elite continued their unbeaten run in the league. Even with a considerable lead though, the season is only two-thirds over so they cannot afford to ease up.
Bodden Town FC defeated defending champions Scholars International 3-1 last Sunday in the Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League competition played at the East End United Play Field. In the second game there, East End United outplayed Future SC 5-2.
In George Town at the TE McField Sports Centre Elite SC produced some fine football to beat the equally combative George Town SC 3-2 while Roma United found back their form to beat Tigers 2-0.
Jairo Sanchez scored two penalties for Elite and Derrin Ebanks got the other in a match that see-sawed throughout. David ‘Starky’ Harding hit George Town’s two, the first a brilliant free kick. Roma captain Kiegel Atkinson got one and Wayne ‘Bigga’ Smith got the other near the end of a match that could have gone either way but for some wayward finishing.
Games will go on a break this Sunday for the staging of the second leg of the CIFA Digicel Cup second leg finals.
