Police: Robbery victim hurt by ‘explosion’

Royal Cayman Islands Police said a man was robbed late Saturday by two men who held machetes to his neck.

Police said the victim was later injured while chasing the suspects in the Shedden Road area. The man told police he heard “an explosion” during the chase and realised he had sustained a wound on his forehead.

Officers were initially called to the area of Archie’s Bar and Funky Tangs just after 10 pm Saturday by an individual who reported that four young men wearing masks were prowling around the location.

When they arrived, officers found the victim of the robbery who had his wallet and a chain stolen.

Police could not immediately state whether the four young men initially reported to them had been involved in the robbery.

The two suspects seen by the victim were described as males, one 5’7′ the other just 5′. They were both dressed in blue jeans and white t-shirts.

Both men were armed with machetes and one reportedly carried a small black gun with a red ring around the front.

No arrests were immediately reported.
