Drugs destroyed

Almost 140 pounds of ganja, most of which washed up on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac over the past few months, was destroyed in the Sister Islands last weekend.

Royal Cayman Islands Police officers said the ganja was transported from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman by police officers on Saturday. It was destroyed in the presence of the District Officer for Little Cayman, who is also a justice of the peace.

While some of the drug had been seized through policing operations, officers said the majority was recovered after being washed up on shore.

Inspector Harold Forte said the vigilance of police staff, residents and colleagues in other law enforcement agencies ensured that the drugs did not reach the streets of the Sister Islands.
