Nightclub stabbing goes to Grand Court

Dan Davar Kelly, 20, appeared in Summary Court in Grand Cayman on Monday and the charge against him was immediately transmitted to Grand Court.

Kelly, of a West Bay address, was charged with unlawfully wounding Norman Clarke, 36, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. The incident reportedly occurred at Club 7 on Saturday, 10 December.

The upstairs nightclub, off West Bay Road on Snug Harbour Drive, previously was Peppers.

Magistrate Valdis Foldats was told Kelly had a knife in his possession when he was arrested on 12 December.

The magistrate denied bail, but reminded defence attorney Lucy Organ that she could apply in Grand Court.

The matter was set for mention in the higher court on Friday, 13 January.

A police report issued on Monday said Mr. Clarke was recovering in the hospital.
