Trial date not yet set
Simon Julio Newball entered a plea of not guilty five times on Friday when charges were put to him relating to the robbery of Magnum Jewellery Store on 22 December.
Newball, 34, remained in custody, but defence attorney John Furniss said a bail application would be made when the matter comes back to court on 3 February. That is when a trial date may be set, he said.
Details of the robbery charge are that the defendant, with other persons unknown, stole jewellery at the Cardinall Avenue store and used force or fear of force against two named people in order to steal.
He is further charged with the theft of a 2005 RAV motor vehicle on 21 December from a Bodden Town address, and then destroying the vehicle by fire on Wahoo Close in George Town the next day.
The final charges are handling stolen goods and possession of criminal property – items stolen jewellery.
