Savannah shooting suspect in court

The 22-year-old man arrested during a police operation in George Town Friday afternoon appeared in Summary Court Wednesday.

Kurt Stephenson Carter is charged with illegal possession of a .38 calibre revolver, threatening to kill and resisting arrest. He’s due to return to court Thursday.

Royal Cayman Islands Police have previously alleged that the suspect arrested last Friday was believed to have been involved in a 19 January shooting that occurred on Hirst Road in Savannah.

However, attempted murder was not among the charges brought against Carter Wednesday.

In the Friday arrest, RCIPS officers pursued the shooting suspect’s vehicle, which ended up crashing into a wall outside an apartment complex on Crewe Road.

A police car that was damaged during the chase had to be towed from the scene, but no one was hurt.
