Fundraiser held for family of drowning victim

Hundreds of Cayman Islands civil servants turned out for a bake sale held Friday to support the family of 4-year-old Aidan Cupid.

Little Aidan drowned Saturday, 17 February when he apparently fell into a brackish water pond located off Minzett Drive in the Northward area of Bodden Town.

Friends and co-workers of Aidan’s mother, who works for the Immigration Department, decided to hold the sale to help defray funeral costs and other expenses related to his death.

Immigration assistant human resources manager Felicia Deslandes said at least $700 was raised during the event, and that representatives of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and HM Customs brought baked goods for the family.

  1. Such a terrible tragedy. As a mother of two small children myself, I cannot imgine the anguish this family is going through. I would like to donate if there is something set in place for the family. Can the Cayman Compass provide details, if any are available? Thank-you kindly.
