Stolen boat seized, illegals arrested

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service’s Marine Unit and Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force arrested four Cuban nationals in the North Sound area of Grand Cayman Sunday evening.

The four men aged 35, 38, 39 and 40 were arrested on suspicion of Illegal entry into the Cayman Islands, police said.

A 36-foot yellow fin boat with three 350hp outboard engines was seized as part of the police operation. Officers suspect that this vessel was stolen from Florida, USA and transported illegally to the Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Islands Immigration Department are assisting the police investigation into the identity and status of all four men, not only in the Cayman Islands but also in the USA. They are currently in custody while the investigation continues.

Drug bust at music festival

In additional to the boat seizure, a drugs arrest was made Saturday evening along Public Beach, the RCIPS reported.

The arrest came as the officers were conducting a police operation in the vicinity of the Heineken Music Festival on West Bay Road. A 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to supply and a number of other drug offences.

Police also said the man was wanted for numerous traffic-related matters.
