A casting call being held this week could be the first step for young ladies in Cayman Islands toward competing in a regional beauty pageant for the title of Miss Caribbean Hibiscus.
The casting call is being held on Saturday, 23 June, at the Rooftop Lounge in George Town. It is open to all single women without children, ages 18 to 26, who are Caymanian, Caymanian status holders or have permanent residence.
From the casting call, a shortlist of contestants will go on to compete in the Cayman Islands pageant on 18 August. The winner of the local pageant will then go on to represent the Cayman Islands in the regional finals in St. Martin on 1 December, competing for the prestigious title of Miss Caribbean Hibiscus 2012.
Donna Myrie-Stephen, who will be coordinating the local pageant, says, “We are planning a very special evening and look forward to having a great turnout to enjoy the first ever beauty pageant on the Rooftop. We would like to see our Islands represented in this beauty pageant, as we embrace our Caribbean unity through this effort.”
Organisers of the casting call are keen to stress that this is not designed to be an intimidating event. Training will be provided, so no prior experience is needed. All that young ladies will need is a comfortable pair of heels and a sparking personality.
Interested ladies can pick up registration forms from Le Classique, Mary Street, between 10am and 6.30pm, or simply show up at the Rooftop Lounge on 23 June, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Cayman Brac residents may obtain registration forms by calling 323-3617.
