A police operation in West Bay Tuesday nabbed a 27-year-old man who police said was suspected of killing Robert Macford Bush last year.

Mr. Bush, 28, was gunned down inside a vehicle at the corner of Capts Joe and Osbert Road and Birch Tree Hill Road on 13 September, 2011.

That shooting, which also left a woman inside the vehicle injured, sparked a string of gang-related incidents on Grand Cayman, including a shooting that occurred on 15 September – two nights later – believed to be in retaliation for Mr. Bush’s death.

In all five deadly shootings occurred within the space of nine days in September 2011. Only one incident out of the five, the shooting of Asher McGaw in East End later in the month, was identified by police as being non-gang related.

No charges were filed against the 27-year-old suspect who was not named by police.
