Anglers can fish with all tackles

The Cayman Islands Angling Club would like to officially advise the public that its annual All Tackle Tournament was postponed.

Instead of taking place last weekend, it has now been moved to 24-25 November. Registration is slated for Thursday, 22 November, at 6-8pm at Sunset House. The entry fee remains $250 per team for up to four anglers.

Fishing is still slated to take place on Grand Cayman waters. The Barcadere Marina in George Town will serve as the weigh station for both tournament days from 4pm to 6pm.

Tournament sponsors include the angling club, the Barcadere Marina and Tomlinson Furniture. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at Sunset House on Tuesday, 27 November, at 7pm.

Anglers will be competing for many cash prizes. The heaviest dolphin, wahoo and tuna catches earn $2,000. The second heaviest catch of each species earns $1,500 and the third heaviest fish garners $500.

Additional prizes are on offer for teams with the most billfish releases and the lady angler with the heaviest eligible fish.

The All Tackle tournament is the angling club’s final competition for 2012. The club’s next fishing event will be in February 2013, in the form of the Barcadere Classic.
