Little Cayman will hold their annual Mardi Gras on Saturday, 9 February. This year’s theme is One Love, chosen by the reigning Mardi Gras King, Mikey Vallee, from Pirate’s Point resort.
The annual event, a fundraiser for the Little Cayman branch of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, will kick off with the Mardi Gras float parade at 4pm. The parade will start at Head O’Bay and meander its way to the Hungry Iguana parking lot where trophies and medals will be awarded.
A masquerade party will follow at Pirate’s Point. The party is slated to start at 6pm. A range of Caribbean-style food will be served from 6.30pm, including corn bread, roasted beet salad, potato Lyonnaise, breaded chicken, jambalaya and cornmeal crusted fish.
Following dinner there will be live music by local band Wild Knights, as well as a raffle. Prizes up for grabs include a Blackberry Curve 9360 donated by Digicel and a new model Smart Phone, courtesy of Lime.
Raffle tickets are $10 and will be on sale at Southern Cross Club, Little Cayman Beach Resort, The Iggy, Pirates Point and The National Trust House. Dinner tickets are $25 and are available at Pirates Point. All proceeds are donated to the Little Cayman branch of the National Trust.
