Schools will close for the election

Government schools will be closed on 21 and 22 May for the general elections.

Students taking exams on those dates will still be required to attend school as normal.

The facilities will be used as polling stations during the national vote on 22 May.

In a brief statement the ministry of education said: “The school closures do not affect exam schedules. Students from Clifton Hunter High School, John Gray High School, Layman E Scott Sr. High School and Cayman Islands Further Education Centre are required to report to their respective school as per their exam schedule. Students must be in attendance as exams cannot be rescheduled.”

The scheduled exams are AQA biology and CXC English A papers 1 and 2 on 21 May and CXC mathematics general papers 1 & 2 on 22 May.

School buses will operate as normal for students sitting exams on these dates.
