Performing arts students at Cayman International School have been working hard on rehearsals for their end of year performance of the seminal musical Les Misérables.
While the official performance on 29 May is for the school community only, the rest of us have the chance to hear songs from Schönberg’s Les Misérables performed by these youngsters at Camana Bay.
On Thursday, 30 May, over 100 students from the musical theatre and drama programmes from both the elementary and secondary schools, will be giving a giving a showcase concert, performing some of the main musical themes from the play, on the Crescent at Camana Bay. A unique open air concert, it takes place between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
“Our secondary students were studying the French revolution – which led to us discussing Les Miserables, which led to us getting immersed in the musical, then the film,” explains Annarie Boor of Cayman International School. “By the time the students gave their input into our selections for end of year performance, Les Miserables was the hands down winner!”
The performance on the Crescent is free of charge and open to all.
