Cayman Free Press Buzz Crusaders now top the five-a-side football ranks.
The Crusaders would defeat the Doghouse Devils, 5-1, to take over first place in week seven of the men’s summer league at Kings Sports Centre. CFP hustled to shut down Doghouse early on in the match and tactically outplayed the Devils.
Raph Harvey led CFP with a hat-trick while Ray Hydes and Dave McLaughlin had the other scores. Martin Cooke had Doghouse’s lone score. The defeat knocked Doghouse out of the unbeaten ranks and into second place behind CFP. Both squads are 5-1 with 15 points, the Crusaders have the edge in goal difference.
The Dominion Devils defeated Deloitte, 3-0. Des Ebanks had a brace while Rob Patraulea had the other goal. It was an even match in terms of skills but experience-wise, Dominion proved superior. Deloitte had a strong team and an almost full roster, but they were unable to score goals. Deloitte and the Devils are both 4-3 with 12 points, but the accountants sit third, due to an edge on goal difference.
CML continue to score in abundance, defeating KPMG, 8-2. Ambrose Guilfoyle and Kevin O’Brien each had a hat-trick with Dexter Beckford and Richard Goulden adding a goal. Peter Paul and Miguel Lopez scored for KPMG.
CML, are now fifth out of eight teams at 3-1-2, while KPMG has dropped into last place at 0-6. Transformers are now sixth at 2-1-3 after beating 2-4 PwC, 5-2. Dominique Pearson had a hat-trick while Chris Douglas scored two goals for Transformers while Simon Patterson had a brace for PwC. The win was expected as Transformers’ fitness level gave them the advantage.
