In one of Grand Cayman’s most anticipated fundraising events, hundreds of Cayman’s most generous paid $1,000 each to attend a gala affair Saturday evening at the Ritz-Carlton to benefit Hedge Funds Care. Proceeds from the event, now in its ninth year, go to provide support for Cayman’s at-risk children.
This year the “Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit” had a “Great Gatsby” theme, and many attended in Roaring 20s’ attire joined by others in traditional formal wear. Attendees included prominent members of the financial community as well as Governor Helen Kilpatrick and her daughter Olivia Connolly, Police Commissioner David and Anne Baines, Cabinet Minister Tara Rivers, and elected members Winston and Lesley Connolly Jr., and Roy and Glenda McTaggart.
Since its inception, Hedge Funds Care has distributed more than $1.8 million through 47 grants to sponsor local agencies and organizations which are working to prevent or treat child abuse or neglect.
