Robbers strike Little Cayman mini mart

Update, 5.15pm: Police arrested five men suspected of robbing a store in Little Cayman Tuesday afternoon. 

About 3.30pm, the RCIPS
helicopter, deployed with armed officers on board, spotted a modified
canoe about 25 miles off East End, Grand Cayman.

The helicopter crew coordinated
an intercept of the canoe by the Marine Unit’s Guardian.

Marine officers boarded the
canoe and arrested the men on suspicion of robbery.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police helicopter and marine units were searching for five robbery suspects who made off from Little Cayman in a boat Tuesday.
Around 1:10 p.m. police received a report that five men entered the Mini Mart in Blossom Village, Little Cayman. Police said “a number of the men” were armed with what appeared to be firearms.

Police said the suspects stole a cash pan from the store, ran off and boarded what has been described as a ‘fast vessel’. They were last seen heading out to sea.
No shots were fired and no one was injured.
The RCIPS Air Operations and Marine Units were searching for the suspects’ boat Tuesday afternoon.
