The Sharks continue to devour teams on the rink.
The frontrunners of the Caribbean Creations Ball Hockey League will be in action on Thursday, Nov. 28, against the Pirates at 9 p.m. at Kings Sports Center. The 6-1-1 Sharks are coming off a 9-3 thrashing of the 2-1-5 Barracudas last Thursday as Steven Taylor, Jamie Nelson, Brad De Schiffert and Ian Bridges scored the winners while Joe Jewitt, Evan Ellbogen and Mike Bowden posted goals for the Barracudas, who are now last with five points.
Meanwhile, the 3-2-3 Pirates are clinging to second place with eight points after a surprising 3-3 draw with the 2-2-4 Deloitte Devil Rays. Warren Weiss, Derek Bruce and Rick Brimacombe scored for the Pirates while Leo Kassam, Brian Lehnerer and Ben Woolf posted goals for Deloitte, who are third with six points.
Devil Rays veteran Dan Florek said his side, the reigning league champion, is just hitting its stride heading into December.
“It is a long season so we’re not too worried about our record at this point,” Florek said. “We’ll be looking to turn things around very soon and hope to work our way back to the top of the league towards year-end.”
Deloitte’s next chance to grab points comes on Thursday, against the Barracudas at 8 p.m. Ellbogen (five goals), Ryan Pull and Don Gardiner (three goals each) steady the Barracuda attack while Kassam (five scorers), Mike Hall and Jason Perras (three goals each) lead the Devil Rays.
The statistics continue to be dominated by the Sharks, as Brad De Schiffert is putting up a Most Valuable Player-type campaign with a league-high 11 goals, along with seven assists.
Sharks team-mate Claude Plamondon is not far off with nine goals and 10 assists, while Brendan Rainonen and Robert Mahadeo each have four assists.
