The next Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will pay tribute to the contributions of the local agricultural sector.
The event will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at the Agricultural Grounds in Lower Valley, the day before the annual Agricultural Show.
The Chamber and the Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure are hosting the gathering, which will feature a preview of the popular show.
According to an invitation issued to Chamber members by Minister of Agriculture Kurt Tibbetts and Chamber president Johann Moxam, the upcoming event “signifies the importance and contributions of the agricultural industry to the Cayman Islands economy.”
“With the rising costs of many imported food items,” they wrote, “it is essential that we focus our attention as a community to what each of us can do to encourage and promote the development of local agriculture and farming. Food security is a serious matter for many nations and the Ministry, in partnership with the Chamber, intends to demonstrate that this sector which is often regarded merely as a past-time or hobby is vital for our future success and sustainability.“
