New court reporter welcomed

The judicial administration has a new court reporter. Camar Clarke joins three other court reporters serving in the Cayman Islands jurisdiction.

Court reporters transcribe every word spoken during court proceedings, most often in criminal matters in the Grand Court but sometimes in other courts as well.

She was born on the island of Barbados and studied computer aided transcription at the Barbados Community College. After receiving her certification, she was employed by the Barbados government at the Supreme Court as a court reporter for the last seven years.

She is also a member of the National Court Reporters Association and a current student of the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill), pursuing a bachelor of science degree in social sciences.

Ms. Clarke replaces Kerri Francella, who returned to her native Canada to further her education.
