Two teenaged males appeared in Summary Court on Friday charged with a burglary that occurred in Cayman Brac on or before Monday, July 28. The burglary was at the Coal Isle Bar on the island’s south side.
The defendants are Geoff Ryan Scott and Torry Javier Powery, both 17.
Crown counsel Marilyn Brandt did not go into detail, but she did tell Magistrate Grace Donalds that 19 bottles of assorted liquors were recovered.
She said Powery was staying at Scott’s house, where one full bottle was found in a bedroom. Other bottles were recovered from a structure nearby.
The magistrate offered both defendants bail on condition that they wear an electronic monitor. Scott took up his bail and is required to reside at a specified address. Powery had no one willing to sign as surety for him, so he was remanded in custody.
Attorney John Furniss appeared for the defendants, who were directed to return to court on Thursday, Aug. 14. Both are charged with handling stolen goods as an alternative, and with possession of an unspecified quantity of ganja on Aug. 5.
