Serpell tops World Jumping Challenge again

Polly Serpell on Sunday's Edition clears a jump in the FEI Jumping Challenge on Sunday.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation hosted the second event of the FEI’s World Jumping Challenge at the Equestrian Center, located on the Linford Pierson Highway in George Town, on Saturday.

Polly Serpell, riding her sister’s horse, Sunday’s Edition, came out the winner of Event No. 2 of the Cayman leg of the three-part series.

Serpell, a Youth Olympic Bronze medalist, also won Event No. 1 of the Cayman leg of the World Jumping Challenge, which was held in February.

This competition is designed to enable top show jumpers who live in more remote regions to compete in their own countries on their own horses, and measure themselves against each other over identical courses.

Individual and team competitors are ranked by geographic region and by height categories. For 2016, the CIEF is hosting Category C, which includes jump heights of up to 1.1 meters.

The third and final event of the Cayman leg of the World Jumping Challenge is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 9, at the Equestrian Center. Start time is 9:30 a.m. and admission is free.
