Boca Juniors continue to set the pace in the DHL Sunday Football League with another win last weekend, defeating Luca 4-1 at Ed Bush stadium.

They were up 2-0 at halftime through a brace of goals from Giuseppe Coco, his seventh and eighth goals of the season. Despite trailing, Luca had their share of possession during the first half, but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal, according to a press release.

After the break, Boca scored another brace of goals, this time from Rene Carter. Sandwiched between Carter’s strikes was Luca’s solitary strike from Jevon Mitchell’s close-range shot, which went in off the post.

Harry’s vs. Maples Revolution

Harry’s, who defeated Maples Revolution 3-0 at the Annex field, had a man-of-the-match performance from goalkeeper Oshane Henry to thank for their margin of victory. Maples faced a lightning start from Harry’s, who were up 2-0 up in the first 18 minutes through strikes by Floyd “Irons” McKenzie and Kris Pierson.

Maples had their moments in front of goal but were thwarted on several occasions by Henry’s acrobatic saves, the press release states, and on other occasions were let down by poor finishing. With time running out for Maples to register a goal, Harry’s McKenzie scored in the final minute.

Bounty Hunters vs. Fidel’s Old Boys

Bounty Hunters got off to a perfect start when Evon Sinclair broke the deadlock within a minute of the start of the match. Things went from bad to worse for Fidel’s Old Boys when they went further behind on six minutes when Jordan Zubeidi made it 2-0, and then Brian Bodden scored from close range to make it 3-0 before halftime.

Hunters kept up the pressure in the second half when Gearoid Magner put them up by four on 50 minutes. Old Boys hit a quick double through Richard Andrews and Roberto Ivan Martinez to make it 4-2, but Hunters’ Caesar Puerto scored just moments later to round off the win at 5-2.

King’s Head vs. OtisAir Wanderers

In the second game at Ed Bush, King’s Head hosted OtisAir Wanderers. Only one goal separated the sides at full-time. The Wanderers eventually found their rhythm and their crisp passing started to produce scoring opportunities. Such a chance was created on 55 minutes for the league’s top goal scorer, Nick Wellington, who rifled the ball into the top corner of the net from just inside the box for his 10th goal of the season.

The Wanderers had the better of the play for the remainder of the half but wasted an opportunity to score again when three of their attackers faced only the King’s Head keeper. However, instead of finding the net, they played it straight into the keeper’s arms and the chance was gone. Nevertheless, the Wanderers’ 1-0 victory keeps them within reach of Boca at the top of the table.

This weekend at the Annex, Bounty Hunters play King’s Head in the early game, and then Harry’s goes against Luca. At Ed Bush, the Wanderers host Old Boys, and Boca faces the Revolution.
