Sarah Verona Watler, known to her family as Aunt Rona, was married to Joseph Cranswick Watson. She used to manage the first gas station in East End, which was jointly owned by her nephew Bertram Conolly and Allen Mclaughlin.
She was also a housewife and a very gracious lady who agreed to pose for this photo around 1982-83 in exchange for a black and white print of the same.
The photographer promised to bring a copy a few days later. When he delivered it, she would not let him leave until he had a lunch of fried fish and rice. It was another era, a time when all doors were open to the few visitors who vacationed in the “far side” districts. Ms. Watler passed away in 1991.
