Doctors urge: ‘Stay Home Cayman’

Doctors across the island have collaborated on a public health video campaign urging people not to leave their homes unless completely necessary.

The Stay Home Cayman video was produced on behalf of the Cayman Islands Medical and Dental Society to send a strong message to the public to stay off the streets and help keep Cayman safe.

Dr. Rebeca De Miguel, president of the society, said it was important that people followed the guidelines to prevent  the spread of the life-threatening COVID 19 virus.

“It is vital we prevent and delay its spread to protect our loved ones,” she said.

“Firstly, we recommend social distancing. This means stay home. If we do this, we ensure we have sufficient hospital capacity for those who really need it.

“Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet apart from other people. Remember the fact that even if you have no symptoms, it doesn’t mean you are not a carrier of the virus. In fact people, including children, can spread the virus easily even if they have no symptoms or mild symptoms.

“Secondly, protect the most vulnerable in our society, such as the elderly and those with medical conditions. Stay home. This way we can reduce the risk of introducing the virus into our family.”
