Cayman’s COVID-19 cases have increased by four, according to the latest test results released by Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee on Wednesday.
Lee, in a brief statement, said the positive cases were picked up through the expanded screening programme and were all asymptomatic.
The cases are “assumed to be locally acquired cases,” Lee said in his report Wednesday.
Contact tracing on all four cases has started, he added.
The four positive results were from a batch of 649 COVID-19 tests which had been carried out since Tuesday afternoon.
The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the Cayman Islands now stands at 180. As of Wednesday, 107 of those cases had recovered, 72 were active, and one person has died.
According to the results, of the active cases, two are symptomatic and 70 are asymptomatic. Currently, there are no COVID-19 hospitalisations.
A total of 317 people remain in isolation at this time, including those quarantining in government facilities.
Wednesday’s results bring Cayman’s overall testing total to 16,072.
