Customs and Border Control officers have taken 15 men into custody on Cayman Brac after they illegally landed on the island.

The group of men, who are all Cuban nationals, arrived in Cayman’s waters sometime around 9:15pm on Sunday, 24 April.

This is the fourth group of Cuban nationals to have illegally landed in Cayman since the start of the month, bringing the total number to 41.

“We are closely monitoring the increase in migrants arriving on our shores,” said CBC Director Charles Clifford in a statement.

“A multiagency meeting was convened this morning to discuss the recent migrations and strategies to effectively manage the situation as well as mitigate the associated risks,” he added.
